Model United Nations

The 2024/2025 Model United Nations course gives students the opportunity to take on the role of delegates and participate in exciting, multinational Montessori Model United Nations conferences. Students gain an in-depth insight into topical international affairs and hone their problem-solving and communication skills as they work together to prepare, debate, and present their ideas.

Who is the course for?

We are looking for hardworking, determined, and resilient students aged between nine and fifteen who have a keen interest in global affairs and would relish the opportunity to learn and develop alongside like-minded peers.

What does the course entail?

Students will participate in both online and in-person sessions to prepare for a Model United Nations conference. They will carry out independent and group research to adopt their country's perspective on contemporary world issues. Moreover, they will take part in group debates and "working sessions" to learn the Rules of Procedure and to become confident presenting their ideas publically. Students will learn to write well-researched and balanced position papers outlining their country's perspective. Finally, students will travel to a Model United Nations conference to participate in a multicultural simulation of a United Nations conference.

What will students gain from the course?

Students will develop their understanding of the global economy and social affairs, engaging with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and United Nations procedures. Furthermore, young delegates will collaborate with each other and develop as responsible and adaptable future leaders. They will learn to negotiate, compromise, and debate in a dynamic multicultural environment. Lastly, students will demonstrate their understanding of why peace and conflict resolution are important topics today.
